Lengthsperson
The
Town Council has appointed a lengthsperson Mr. Andrew McClelland, to work in Penwortham
for 15 hours per week. This gives the council a unique opportunity to address
without delay environmental problems which arise within the Town, and to maintain
a local environment of which we can all be proud.The lengthsperson has been provided
by means of partnership funding from South Ribble and Lancashire County Councils
and this support is gratefully acknowledged He
is involved in a wide variety of duties including: - Basic
maintenance to the gates, stiles and bridges on public rights of way within the
Town.
- Maintenance
to Council owned property.
- Small
scale emergency repairs at short notice.
- Litter
control, leaf clearance, cleaning out blocked gullies, etc.
- Grass
cutting and strimming of vegetation on Council land and rights of way.
- Small
scale ditch clearing alongside paths.
- Conservation
projects and schemes within the community as agreed with the Town Council.
- Organising
materials and equipment to carry out tasks.
- Liaising
with the Town Council, local community, farmers / landowners, Lancashire Countryside
Service and any other official organisation to enable works to be carried out
effectively and with the necessary consent.
- Supporting
the work of the Lancashire Countryside Service
