Community Beat Managers are "beat bobbies" who we have put at the heart of your community to provide local policing - and you have one covering your area in Penwortham.

Community Beat Managers are responsible for policing a local area.

They work in their area for a minimum of two years.

During this time they will not be moved to work in other areas.

They are not called away to respond to emergencies.

They spend most of their working hours on their community beat.

You can identify them easily as they wear a high visibility uniform and a Community Beat Manager badge.

Their main job is to work with you to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in your area.

Their purpose is to "get things done". To do this they work with partners such as local councils and the health service to put in place lasting solutions.

In some wards, the Community Beat Manager is supported by a Police Community Support Officer. They are experienced and trained in developing solutions to community problems without the need for police powers.

Community Beat Managers hold regular open meetings where you can go along and speak to them and discuss local policing issues - you can just turn up as you don't have to make an appointment.

REPORTING CRIME

The best way to report crime is to telephone us. If the crime is happening at the time you are reporting it or there is danger to life or property - you must call 999 immediately.

If the crime you want to report is not an emergency call us on: 0845 1 25 35 45.

You can also report non-emergencies on our website www.lancashire.police.uk.

If you would like to give information without giving us your name or speaking to a police officer you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The call is free and the number won't be on your phone bill.

You shouldn't contact your Community Beat Manager to report crime - we have other police officers who are dedicated to responding to incidents and investigating crime.
