Penwortham Town Council

The Penwortham Town Council website aims to provide a comprehensive reference point for all our residents, businesses and visitors to the area. We also offer access to Town Council information including details of your nearest councillor, agendas and public meetings. The Town Council has primary responsibility for Hill Road Cemetery, Penwortham War Memorial, Penwortham Community Centre, The Bridge Inn allotment site and the numerous community events held throughout the year in Penwortham.

The Town Council may also be used as a focal point for the statutory obligations of both the Borough and County Councils and the services they provide. Please feel free to contact us on any issues concerning the Town of Penwortham.

Penwortham Neighbourhood Development Plan -

Following on from the recent first consultation exercise the first steps in writing the policies for the plan are underway; following this the draft NDP would be:

• required to be subject to a six week minimum public consultation arranged by the town council;
• submitted to the borough council which would then be required to undertake a six week minimum public consultation;
• subject to an examination by an independent examiner;
• if approved by the examiner, subject to a referendum organised by the borough council.

The next step would be to adopt the NDP which would then sit alongside the Local Development Framework and would be a material consideration in shaping future decisions within Penwortham Town.  If adopted, the town council could be able to receive 25% of any Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) monies raised in their area, rather than the 15% parish/town councils could currently be entitled to.

Councillor Sue Prynn accepted the role of Penwortham Town Mayor on the 6th May 2014 and said that she was both delighted and honoured to be asked to carry out the Mayoral duties for the forthcoming year. Councillor Prynn pointed out that for many years she has watched the various Mayors of Penwortham leading the procession on gala day, never dreaming that one day she herself would have the opportunity to do so.

Councillor Prynn announced that her chosen charities for the year would be Positive Action for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Headway

Please feel free to attend any of the Mayoral events that are planned for the year, details of which will be available here.
